Plan the Year You Actually Want: Your 2027 Business Plan Starts Here

The last week of the year has a special kind of quiet. Clients slow down, inboxes calm, and for a few days there is room to think. I always use this week to plan the year ahead, and I want to walk you through exactly how I do it, so you can plan yours too.

This is not a business plan built for a bank. It is a plan built for your life.

Step 1: Start with the life, not the business

I created the Purpose and Dreams Sheet when I was nineteen, and I still start every year with it. Before you write a single revenue goal, answer these questions honestly:

  • What do I want my average weekday to look like a year from now?

  • How many hours do I want to work, and which days do I want off?

  • What do I want to have, do, experience, and become in 2027?

  • Who do I want more time with?

  • What would make this year feel like a success even if no one else saw it?

Your business plan exists to make those answers possible. Keep them in front of you as you plan.

Step 2: Look honestly at 2026

Before you plan forward, look back. What did you earn, and where did it come from? Which offers were most profitable? Which marketing efforts actually brought clients? What drained your energy without a return? What are you proud of? Write it down. The best plans are built on what you learned, not on what you hope.

Step 3: Set your number

Now decide what the business needs to earn to support the life you described. Start with what you want to pay yourself, add your expenses and the team you need, and work backward to your revenue goal. Then break it down by month and by offer. When a goal is connected to your actual life, it stops feeling arbitrary.

Step 4: Choose your offers

Decide which offers will carry the year. Keep the ones that are profitable and that you love delivering. Raise prices where you are undercharging. Retire what drains you. A simpler offer suite almost always produces a better year.

Step 5: Break the year into four chapters

Give each quarter a single focus. For example: build the foundation, launch the offer, grow the audience, scale the team. Each quarter supports the same annual vision, so you adjust tactics without starting over.

Step 6: Plan your first ninety days in detail

You do not need every week of 2027 mapped out. You do need a clear first quarter. Choose three priorities, assign an owner and a deadline to each, and put the time on your calendar now.

Step 7: Decide what you will hand off

Look at your plan and ask which parts you need to do yourself and which parts can be delegated, automated, or handed to a specialist. A plan without capacity is just a wish list.

Step 8: Schedule your reviews

Put four quarterly CEO days on your calendar today. Those days are where you review, adjust, and stay committed instead of abandoning the plan when life gets busy.
